Episode 34: With Medical Doctor, Researcher and Clinician Dr. Phil Maffetone

We speak with Dr. Phil Maffetone.  During his two decades in private practice and beyond, Dr. Maffetone has been a respected pioneer in the field of complementary medicine, bringing the latest advances to health-care professionals around the world. He is an internationally recognized researcher, educator, clinician and author in the field of nutrition, exercise and sports medicine, and biofeedback. Dr. Maffetone’s research has been reported in newspapers, magazines and other media around the world, including Huffington Post, The Today Show, Men’s Health, CNN, Readers Digest and The Atlantic magazine.  Since the 1970s, Dr. Phil Maffetone has warned against sugar addiction and carbohydrate intolerance along with pioneering the use of biofeedback via heart-rate monitoring devices.  We speak about the 'Overfat" pandemic that has run headlong into the Covid-19 pandemic.  He discusses how unhealthy living and poor food choice are a big part of why the virus has affected the United States so heavily.  Dr. Maffetone believes we need to have social distance from sugar and junk food.  Dr. Maffetone has recently published a paper with fellow researcher Paul B. Larsen called "The Perfect Storm: Coronavirus Covid-19) Pandemic Meets Overfat Pandemic".    Its a good read and highlights his theories and how they apply to the pandemic outbreak.  He also had a recent article concerning how we move forward health-wise Post-Covid and beyond.  It was an interesting conversation and brings to light some other things in our lives that need reset.
